Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh ,Sep 25: Navratri festival and Gujarat are synonyms as the people celebrate the ‘nine nights’ celebrating feminine divinity, often referred to as ‘shakti’, with spectacular fervor.
The whole Gujarat and the country dances to Navratri dance special, ‘dandiya’ which begins on 8th till 16th October.
Kamalesh Patel, Chairman of the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited, who was in the city along with Gujarat’s Secretary Tourism Vipul Mittra said that this is our second visit to this region after one year, and we are here to invite the people of Punjab to join in the celebrations of Nawatris, which is a festival of perhaps the world’s longest dance that goes on for nine-nights.
Vipul Mittra said that Gujarat is a tourist delight with 1600km longest coastline in India, 22 wildlife sanctuaries and four national parks, not with standing the heritage and archeological sites that it offers.
For the bird watchers, he said, a three days Global Bird Watchers Conference at Khijadiya Bird sanctuary located on the north-east coastal region of Jamnagar in the Gulf of Kutch, from 25-27 November would be another attraction to watch the migratory birds of Eurasian continent in the state’s wetlands with an opportunity to interact with some of the world’s leading ornithologists. In December, the Rann Utsav, a three day carnival of numerous activities like Rann safari, Kutch carnival, cultural evenings, visits to Kutchhi village in the moonlit landscape in the white desert is a visual wonder complete with folk dance and music adding ethnical flavor.
On 19-21 December 2010, the Rann of Kutch would come alive with the Rann Utsav, Mittra added.
And close on the healds would be the famous International Kite Festival, 12-14 January 2011, which coincides with the festival of Uttarayan, in which, besides the local festivities, many kite flyers converge to participate in the festival especially from Japan, Italy, UK, Canada, Brazil, Indonesia, Australia, USA, etc.
For the business people Gujarat will also be hosting its mega business event from 12-13 January in Gandhinagar which brings together some of the international business leaders, entrepreneurs, angel investors, to network and explore newer business opportunities.
