The India Post, Chandigarh 26th September, 2008 : The film is an attempt to document the current socio-political scenario of Chandigarh on issues pertaining to green policies, green corridor issues, on paper vs on ground situations, speech vs acts, revolving primarily around the central theme of saving the Sec 26 Heritage pond/Nursery ( Maintained by Environment society of India : Pics attached ) which is only one of its kinds, small wetland, not even known to even the oldest of residents. The place which was on the tentative list of Eco tourism spots, is now earmarked for a VIP’S institute ( Club?) .
This Promo reviews Heritage and tourism aspect of the Heritage Pond . It has views of : Mr M.N. Sharma ( the first Indian Chief architect of the city ), Late Sh. Aditya Prakash ( the eminent architect of Chandigarh ) and Mr Vivek Atray( Director Tourism,Chd). The promo brings out the essence of the place and promotes it as a potential place for eco tourism inside the city itself and that any plans to build a Club for VIPs will ruin the place.
Also it would be worth mentioning here that the 2nd promo that was released last month ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcaIiovUIzY ) showcased the Educational aspect of the Heritage pond .The promo had Interview of school kids telling about their experience at the Pond and also includes the interview of Mr SK Setia ( Director Public Instructions ( Schools ) telling about the relevance of this place for Practical study by school kids.
The 1st promo dealing with environmental aspects was released few months back and can be viewed @ http://in.youtube.com/watch?v=UESUxFSMsM8
The film would be released on 11th October ,at Punjab Kala Bhawan , Sec – 16 , Chandigarh @ 6 : 30 pm ,followed by a panel discussion ,with eminent citizen of Chandigarh as panelists and is supposed to trigger one of the largest Environmental Activism campaign of the City in which shall participate the kids from most of the schools of the City and also people from all walks of life.

5. Press conference and screening of ‘Green warriors’ for media on 10th Oct .
The film is based on Factual information procured via RTI .The information is indeed a such a shame to discuss here and clearly shows the Land hunger of the top officials. The said pond is actually a Public place and is being converted into restricted entry area for the selected few in the city. Also this film is the voice of green against(?) Red..to preserve this natural heritage and many such places which might become a prey to lenient developmental (?)policies. The purpose of this Press note is solely to reach your readers through your esteemed paper, so as to invite them to be a part of this campaign ,if they strongly feel about any green issues. After all there is a lil bit of activism in all of us..only it doesn’t reach the threshold to speak out its voice. Here is the platform..’Green warriors’.. ,by the people ,of the people and for the people!
