Chandigarh, Jan. 09, 2010: The feeling of gratitude for parents will never let you down in life. Citing the example of 176 students of India’s premier IITs who committed suicide in the last two years, Dr. Khera, the renowned educationist who had his grooming in the U.S. and Canada, exhorted the students to give primary importance to developing the highest virtue known to mankind, the gratitude in their lives. And said he, “gratitude starts with your parents”. No one who has strong feelings of gratitude for his or her parents will even think of committing suicide and will always feel the satisfaction of having one’s benefactors all around. One of the reasons our students excel in every walk of life, not just in highly acclaimed competitions for medical and engineering exams across the country, is the positivity and gratitude for parents inculcated here. This function, MAT PITA SANTAN DIVAS, is one such effort in that direction. The function was held at Punjab Kala Bhavan in the city today.
This is sixth year in continuation that we are organizing “Mat Pita Santan Divas”. Inculcating higher values in our students’ lives has helped us produce better students with higher values which help them achieve happiness and phenomenol success later on in theri life as well. Such higher values are in short supply all around us, said Dr Vinod Khera, Director of the institute.
The true personality of a man’s wisdom can be seen in the way he repays those who have helped him achieve greatness in life. It is always a parent or a teacher who feels ennobled on the success of a child, was the theme of the three hour long programme.
On this occasion, the parents of students were honoured by their children. Dr. Khera summarized the feelings of his students for their parents with his words that said, it is the spirit imbibed in students by their upbringing at home and at our institute that instills confidence that takes them to higher altitudes of happiness and “true” success in them.
The parents present on the occasion lauded the efforts of Dr. Khera and his colleagues in organizing such inspring functions year after year on such a unique theme. Mr. Baldev Singh, a renowned spiritual philosopher exhorted the audience to tread the path of success in material life while preserving the value system and cultural heritage. He said that most of us are blind to the great services rendered by our parents for us and this is the root cause of our misery in our relationships with them and later on in life.
The auditorium was packed to capacity consisting of high dignitaries from different walks of life, students and their parents.
The audience was kept spell-bound as emotional musical items including group and solo songs were presented by the students of Dr. Khera’s institute. A soul stirring one act play, “Mar Ke Bhi Zinda Rahe Ma” directed by a teacher of the institute, Sh. Ashwani Ohri won much appreciation from all present.
The function began with a song sung by Karan and Shailesh, the latter, an old student of the institute dedicated to a mother “Ae ma teri soorat se alag” depicting how she always provides selfless service to her children. This was followed by a group song, “Maan Baap Ka Dil Na Tum Yun Dukhao” which made those present realize the sufferings and pain caused by them to their parents by their acts of selfishness, ego and other harmful acts.
Centre students Misha and Party gave a soul stirring song on the role of parents in the true development of an ideal student. A melodious song to inculcate the feeling of gratitude “Kaise Maata aur Pita ke Upkaar Sunaoon Main” followed.
The parents, on their part, were deeply appreciative of the very sincere efforts made by Dr.. Khera and his mentor Bhagwan Devatma for inculcating higher values in his students.
One of the students, Saurabh Gaba, who had secured a top rank in All India CBSE PMT exam was grateful to his parents for having chosen Dr. Khera’s institute for him and his elder brother.. He was deeply appreciative of the efforts of this institute for bringing both happiness and success to the students’ lives. He said that such a soul uplifting programme is something unheard of in the present day materialistic and commercialised world. He paid glowing tributes to Dr. Khera for the unique character of the institute which most spiritedly fulfilled the educational as well as emotional requirements of the students.
Dr Vinod Khera, Director, Chandigarh Coaching Centre addressing the audience stressed on the importance of respect for elders and feeling of gratitude, particularly towards parents, highlighting on the changing scenario in which parents and children are becoming increasingly devoid of a mutually happy and beneficial relationship. We need to respect our elders for achieving all we aspire for in life, he added. He asked the students to follow the example of Saurabh Gaba and Rohit Arora who after entering IIT, Kanpur has topped in there as well.
A soulful melody “Maa Pyari Ma, Goad Me Teri Khela Bachpan Mera” by Rashi, a student of the center helped the emotions of the audience to flow. Hardly a soul present in the audience was left untouched. Most of them could not stop tears from rolling down their face. Every item presented by the engineering and medical aspirants was no less than professional and drew repeated applause.
