Chandigarh. 25th February :For making it a destination city, Government of India a money grant of Rupees 12 crores is sanctioned for Chandigarh for every tourist from inside and outside India. A scheme has been initiated by the Chandigarh Home Secretary- cum –Secretary Tourism, “Development of Chandigarh as a Tourism Destination” in this regard.
To conceptualize the dream different departments of Chandigarh Administration under the guidance and supervision of Sh. Ram Niwas would work together to make the city the number one city in the list of much visited tourist places .Under this scheme emphasis were given on the up gradation and beautification of the present tourist spots with in and around the city.
As Chandigarh is a clean and green city, keeping this in mind Chandigarh administration has been promoting “Jungle Theme” for this project. Eco Tourism and Medical Tourism were on priority list and the spots which were targeted mix and match well with the theme. Rupees 3.90 crores has been sanctioned for the up gradation of the Botanical Garden and Patila Ki Rao. Tree Top Huts and Medical Tourism Huts were planned to be built in Botanical Garden to attract the tourist to this place. Besides Beautification and Up Gradation, Tourist Seating Centre was also purposed near Patiala Ki Rao. An amount of Rupees 2.73 has been sanctioned for Up Gradation of Sukhna Lake & for illumination and beautification of Island there.
Another Rupees 2.26 Crores has been sanctioned for the construction of Tourist Information Centre & for Illumination of Lake Complex to increase the visitors in early night hours also. Further for illumination, beautification and land scaping at Rose Garden along with up gradation of Tourism facility at Rose Garden and Leisure Valley an amount of Rupees. 2.70 crores have been sanctioned.
