Chandigarh, March 6:- The Chandigarh Administration has decided to introduce Residency System in all the specialties in General Hospital, Sector 16. UT Home and Health Secretary, Mr. Krishna Mohan disclosed that 20 Senior Residents(SR) have been sanctioned out of which, 13 have joined and started functioning for the specialties namely surgery, orthopedics, gynae, pediatrics. Remaining will be filled shortly and the department is considering to further enhance the seats of
SR from 20 to 30 so as the emergency and routine services are further strengthened in the hospital, he added. Home Secretary revealed that the Administration has also decided to introduce three number of super specialties department in Government Multi Specialty Hospital in order to reduce the acute burden in these specialties in PGI and GMCH 32. The three department approved are Cardiology, Urology and Neurosurgery and 12 numbers of senior resident with super specialization i.e. MCH/DN will be taken for these specialties at par with the criteria of Post Graduate Institute, he further added. The Urology department has already started functioning with one DM urologist Doctor and for the others specialities, the action is being taken, he further added.Mr. Mohan disclosed that a sum of Rs. 50 lacs has been sanctioned for the aforesaid projects.
