Chandigarh, February 28, 2011. Mr. Satya Pal Jain, a Senior BJP leader and Ex City MP, today described the General Budget presented by Finance Minister as very disappointing and completely directionless. Mr. Jain said that earlier “Didi” disappointment by her Railway Budget and today “Dada” has also disappointed the “common man”.
Mr. Jain said that this General Budget will increase the price rises and unemployment. The budget is silent about the fact as to how the government will handle the problems like corruption and black money. There is nothing special in the budget for the poor and people below the poverty line. It appears that the government is not worried about the common man especially the poor and the poorest.
Mr. Jain said that this budget has disappointed the people of Chandigarh also. The budget of Chandigarh has not been increased substantially. Keeping in view the demands of Chandigarh it is a meagre increase. The development of the city will not be as rapid as it is desired to be, because of this meagre increase.
Mr. Jain said that today’s budget has once again shown that the development of Chandigarh is nowhere in the priority list of the Central Congress Government. The local Congress party leaders, including Central Ministers, are only busy fighting either amongst themselves or with one or the other officer. They have no time to plead the case of Chandigarh with the Central Government.
