CHANDIGARH- SEPTEMBER 18, 2008: Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma, Professor in the Department of Gandhian Studies has been conferred Gandhi – Vinoba Peace Award – 2008 by His Excellency, the Governor of Orissa, Shri Murlidhar Chanderkant Bhandare at an International Seminar organized by Vinoba Seva Pratisthan, Jayadev Bhawan, Bhubaneswar, on Thursday, on the occasion of 113th Birth Anniversary of Acharya Shri Vinoba Bhave.
The Award includes Citation, Shawl and Memento. He also presented a paper on “Gandhi’s Approach To Non-Violence & World Peace”.Professor Sharma’s valuable contribution in teaching and spreading the Thought, Principles and Teachings of the Father of the Nation in the field of Non-violence and Peace are well-known and the conferment is in recognition of his commitment to the Gandhian ethos.
Author of the book – “Gandhi and Democratic Decentralization in India”,Professor Sharma has been teaching for the last thirty years and has authored over 40 Papers and participated in 110 national, international and regional conferences, seminars, workshops and symposia. He has also guided a number of Ph.D. and M..Phil. students for their respective degrees. He has been a recipient of many honours, a resource person to many academic institutions and universities including U.G.C., I.C.S.S.R. and I.C.H.R.
