Chandigarh, Nov 25, 2012 : The occasion was the release of the 5th edition of the “Members’ Directory – 2012” of the Merchant Navy Officers Association Chandigarh, recognized as the largest and most active merchant navy officers’ association in the country with 554 active members, and counting.
The gala evening, planned for the occasion at Chandigarh Club on Saturday, proved a resounding success with more than 250 people, including members and their families and some guests, turned out in their best attire. Beautiful ladies wearing trendy dresses, bubbly children attired in colourful hues, and the handsome officers’ themselves made it an occasion to cherish.
While blaring music saw the children taking enthusiastically to the dance floor, K.J. Singh, an expatriate guest from Vancouver, Canada, set the tone for adults to an enjoyable evening with the popular yesteryears song “Rang Dil ki Dharkan Bhi Laati to Hogi, Yaad Meri Unko Bhi Aati To Hogi” which he dedicated to his wife back home.
Capt Prashant Rangnekar, General Manager (India Operations) of Fleet Management, one of the largest Ship Management companies in the world, released the members’ directory, which is updated every two years.
Association president Ajit Singh said the Association has been declared the most active association in India twice in the last five years.The last few years have been quite rewarding with the strength of its members growing by 85, he said, adding that the first directory was released in 2004 when the strength of the association was only 255. Since then 4 more editions have been published. The directory is circulated to all shipping companies in India and contains full information of the members, including spouse’s name and their anniversary date.
