Chandigarh:On the EARTH DAY (April 22, Tuesday), the Natural History Museum Sector 10 and Panjab University, Chandigarh, jointly organize an interactive film show on Earth and Environment in the CYCLORAMA Gallery from 1100 hours to 1600m hours.The five hour activity is a part of the outreach activity of INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF PLANET EARTH (conceived by UNESCO & IUGS). It aims at creating an in depth appreciation and understanding in the society about wonders, history and grandeur of the Mother Earth through films on GLOBAL WARMING, VOLCANOES, DINOSAURS, SNOW BALL EARTH, EARTHQUAKES etc.
All students and teachers of various schools, colleges and university as well as research institutes faculty and their families are welcome to this grand show on EARTH DAY. The Honorary Consultant to OUR MOTHER EARTH GALLERY of the Govt Museum Prof Arun D Ahluwalia of Panjab University who also heads the Panjab University Earth and Environment Outreach, will be supervising the activity and shall be available for interaction with individuals and groups coming to the film show. He also offers to give educative and outreach material to guests who may please come with their own blank DVDs for take home audio visual lessons. Prof Arun D Ahluwalia is also a Member of the International OUTREACH PROGRAMME COMMITTEE of IYPE (2007-2009) and has been spearheading an awareness programme across the region besides setting up an OPEN AIR ROCK GALLERY in the museum premises which though under making, will also be available to the guests to look at.Wide publicity among all age groups in the Chandigarh, Panchkula, Mohali region, is solicited.
