Chandigarh, March 30:The free artificial limbs camp which was organised last on February 17 by the Lions Club Chandigarh Central in association with Lala Durga Charan Charitable Artificial Limb Center, Ambala Cantt, handed over the artificial limbs to the physically challenged.
The follow-up camp was organised at Satsang Bhavan in Sector 26, Chandigarh, today and 31 patients received artificial limbs which were manufactured at the Ambala Cantt facility.Three tricycles and 28 artificial limbs were fitted to the physically challenged people.
The artiicial limb centre at Ambala Cantt has been established in 2004 by US based NRI, Mr. Raj Aggarwal and his wife Mrs Sushma Aggarwal in association with the world-renowned Jaipur based Mahavir Viklang Sahayata Samiti which popularised the Jaipur Foot. The Ambala centre has benefitted nearly 4400 poor and needy physically challenged patients so far.According to Mr Raj Aggarwal who is currently in USA, said on telephone, that my mission is to provide artificial limbs to every physically challenged person in the region free of cost, and my appeal to all the voluntary organisations to come forward and identify all such persons so that we can serve them.
