Five students from Vivek High School, are representing India at the Asia Pacific Junior Achievement Company Of the Year competition at Hong Kong to be held on the 17, 18 and 19 January 2011.The team of five students namely Manek Mehta, Raisa Kaur, Harshit Bansal ,Shaurya Punj and Saanya Ojha of class XI led by teacher advisor Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed will be competing in this international event by presenting to a panel of judges their company –ICONIQUE. Iconique is a joint stock company whose shareholders are the staff and students of Vivek High School. The company is managed and run by Class XI students of the school.
Vivek High School has been running the Junior Achievement Student Company Program for the past fifteen years.
Participating students learn important entrepreneurial skills while they create their own student company and operate it through an entire business cycle ( From business plans , through organization set-up and operations to liquidation).The companies are overseen by a student Board Of Directors, articulate incorporation documents and maintain their books of accounts. They make and market real products, raise capital and make ‘real’ profits or losses with the support and mentoring of a wide range of professionals. The purpose of this program is to provide students as near real life experience as possible while staying within academic and age group limits.
The competition is JA Worldwide’s annual celebration of the achievements of the JA company Program students across Asia Pacific .At this event, JA companies proudly present the results of the enterprise and learning experience. JA companies appear before a panel of independent judges who determine company performance against the competition criteria as compared with other JA companies at each stage of the competition process.
