29 Jan : Aakriti, 2010 – an endeavour to provide a platform to the professionally trained Fashion Design students of Government Home Science College to instill confidence before they enter the world of work. It is one of its kind fashion show where almost 200 students have put their best efforts to design, construct, anchor and model their creations.
The Chief Guest for the evening was Mrs. Savita Bhatti, a renowned stage, T.V. and film personality and a trained journalist. She is also the executive producer of Jaspal Bhatti Productions and Heads “MAD ARTS” a film school.
The models gracefully carried the collections of 12 different themes befitting different moods. The rounds were Hacer Fiesta- a scintillating and ostentatious collection for an evening party; Flawless Exquisite-an enticing and tantalizing collection for the garden party: Jack Frost- an array of attires to vanish out the frigidness of rigorous winter; Rugged Finesse- a right to attention through the unusual and vogue styles; Mardi Gras- portraying the delightful and joyful mood of carnival; Heathen Plume- a sizzling collection of Indian ethnic wear; Kaynasma- a judicious mix of classic and contemporary styles; Kermesse- collection for a moment of togetherness, closeness and rejoice; Hide Away- exploring the rhythm of life and spirit; Le Melange- an aesthetically soothing collection; Acune Heure- a collection for the women of substance; Leisure Endure- roaming around the world in comfortable ensemble.
The fashion show comprised of a three member jury – Mr. Parveen Jothaniya Design Director, SIFT; Mrs. Sunanda Kundra Ex-Principal Government Home Science College; and Mrs. Pawan Brar, a Fashion Designer.
The Principal of the college Dr. (Mrs.) Rita G. Singh welcomed the Chief Guest, jury members and the eminent audience.
The cat-walk was followed by a classical performance by Priyanka and Aanchal (M.Sc Students) that charmed the audience. This was followed by a dance number, Aaja Nachle by another group of Post Graduate students.
The jury members applauded the efforts of the budding designers.
