CHANDIGARH, AUG 5 :Western Air Command and South Western Air Command registered their second successive and impressive victories in the Air Force Hockey Championship being conducted by 3 Base Repair Depot at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.
Enjoying total control over the game, WAC outplayed Southern Air Command by 6-0 after establishing a commanding 4-0 lead at half time. They made their intentions clear from the word go as they opened their account in the first minute through Singh.
Maintaining their pressure, WAC added one goal each through the sticks of Satvir Singh (10th), S Singh (22nd), Kispota (26th), Major Singh (46th) and Keshwani (66).
In their first match yesterday, WAC had beaten Central Air Command by 3-1.
South Western Air Command handed out a 5-1 drubbing to Air Headquarters. It was Air Headquarters which drew the first blood as S Singh caught SWAC defence napping in the third minute. Air Headquarters kept the slender lead intact till the first half.
On crossing over SWAC looked a transformed lot. They pumped in two goals in the 37th minute. First Sami banged home a good goal and immediately AK Yadav made it 2-1. Tehn Domnic scored a brace by scoring in the 38th and 43rd minutes. Arun Kumar rounded of the winners’ tally in the 57th minute. In their opening fixture they had beaten Training Command by 1-0.
Training Command today tasted victory by scoring one goal in each half as they beat Maintenance Command by 2-0. Nambiraj put TC ahead in the 7th minute and Harish Kumar doubled the victory margin with a goal in the 67th minute.
In yet another match, Central Air Command got the better of Eastern Air Command by 3-1. Sequira put CAC ahead with a fine goal in the 20th minute. Sunil Kumar restored parity for EAC in the 55th minute. In the closing stages of the game, CAC mounted relentless pressure and scored two goals within a span of two minutes. Francis gave CAC lead in the 64th minute and Anil made it safe for CAC in the 66th minute.
