Dr. Avnish Jolly, Chandigarh, 9th October 2008 :The Rotaract Club Chandigarh celebrated Dushehra in a new and innovative manner on 8th October in Rotary House. The event witnessed the presence of over 80 Rotaractors. The function began with a Ravan making competition, the winners of which were judged by Rtn AP Singh and Rtn. Chanranjit Singh from Rotary Club Chandigarh. The same effigy was then burnt.
Subsequently a play was enacted by the members which conveyed the message of victory of good over evil, the characters were plastic (Ravan), Sutta(Shrupnakha), Bacteria(Kumbhakaran), the Ram was played by the govt. decision to put a ban on use of plastic and on public smoking. The ban of plastic and cigarette was the centerline of the skit.
Rtn AP singh appreciated the efforts of the Rotaractors thoroughly and congratulated the Rotaract President Mandeep Singh on completing triumphant 3 months of this rotary year and the project head, Rtr. Parandeep Kaur of the ‘Dushehra Celebrations’ for executing such a brilliant project. Rtn Charanjit singh said “the projects completed by the rotaractors on a regular basis and covering all aspects of service and also including the element of fun in club activities was a great thing”. The efforts of all the Rotaractors who were a part of this event were applauded by everyone.
Everyone present at the function enjoyed it thoroughly. The Rotaractors, then played different games and celebrated the festival with great enthusiasm and had a great time. The function concluded with the burning of Ravan.
