Chandigarh April 22 : The PGI Institute Body has cleared three candidates for selecting the new Director of the institute.The next director will be within the PGIMER,Chandigarh. The 18-member body, the highest decision-making panel of the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Chandigarh, chose finalists from a shortlist of five that the technical selection committee had earlier prepared after interviewing all 24 applicants.Dr Yogesh Chawla got 85 marks , Dr Amod Gupta 80 marks and Dr Raj Bahadur got only 75 marks awarded by the technical sub-committee .Dr Chawla is a liver expert and heads the Hepatology Department at the PGI.and he has published maximum number of publication 307 and Dr Amod gupta has 248 publication and Dr Raj Bahadur has the minimum publication only 72 according to the sources available.
Dr Yogesh K Chawla, Head of Hepatology Department at the PGI,Dr Amod Gupta presently heads PGI’s Ophthalmology Department and is the senior-most doctor on the final panel. When he applied for the Director’s post, he was Sub Dean, but was promoted as Dean in February. Dr Raj Bahadur, Director-Principal of the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh.
Dr D Behra from PGIMER department of pulmonary medicine and Dr Vinod paul from AIMS got the 75 interview marks equal to Dr Raj Bahadur. One of the senior doctor from PGIMER says on the anonymity “it is not easy to politician to promote non deserving candidate , how can they ignore the interview marks”.
the services given by dr.chawla and that too very humbly by a doctor of international repute have turned into blessings and that too of very critically ill patients.wishing u furthur success sir.

Congratulation Dr Chawla, finally your hard work noticed by the Govt of India, You proved education is important than Political person.
But it is tough time till the 29th April, AS politician may like to change your name to be a Director.
