15 Feb : Dr. Pardeep Singh Walia, Sr. Lecturer in Commerce, Govt. College for Girls, Sec-11, Chandigarh, was invited by the International Academy of Management and Business, USA, after his research paper was accepted for publication and presentation at the International Conference.
The International Conference on the theme ‘Management in Global Economic Crisis’ was organized by IAMB- International Academy of Management and Business, USA, from 28th January to 30th January 2009 in New Orleans USA. 58 research scholars and academicians from 20 countries of the world participated in the conference and presented their research papers.
Dr. Pardeep Singh Walia represented India at the conference and presented the research paper entitled ‘Trade Unionism and Industrial Disputes: Indian perspective’.The paper traced the origin of trade unionism in India in the pre-independence and post-independence era and highlighted its relevance and significance in the changing industrial and social scenario. He also identified the factors responsible for the initial genesis and the continuous growth in the trade union movement and its contribution in generating employee friendly reforms. His paper also brought into focus various statutes formulated by the Government of India in this direction and their visible role in generating cordial industrial relation atmosphere in the country over the years.
Appreciating Dr. Walia’s research paper and participation in the deliberations of the conference, the IAMB, USA, has conferred upon him Honorary Membership to the Advisory Board of the Academy.
Dr. Pardeep Singh Walia has also been elected as an added member to the Faculty of Business Management & Commerce, Panjab University Chandigarh for the term 1.2.2009 to 31.1.2011.
