CHANDIGARH, OCT 17 :St Xavier’s School of Panchkula and Banyan Tree School, Sector 48-B Chandigarh began their campain with easy victories in the second Ess Vee Soccer Cup for Under-15 being sponsored by Samar Estates Private Limited at the Sector 17 Football Stadium here today.St Xavier’s of Panchkula blanked Ryan International School of Patiala by 4-0. Sparsh Sood gave Xavier’s the lead with a goal in the first minute.. Rahul Rana (9th minute), Aditya (14th) and Rishab Srivastav (24th) added one goal each for the winners.
Banyan Tree School also proved too good for Saupin’s School of Mohali as they recorded a 4-0 verdict. Karam was the star performer for Banyan Tree as he netted in the fourth and 10th minutes. Rajat Rawat and Shahzeb added one goal each in the 5th and 14th minutes, respectively.
Stepping Stone of Chandigarh also had a smooth sailing in the first round as they defeated St Xavier’s of Moali by 4-0 Sanamvir Singh (28th, 33rd), Karan Bhanot (12th) and Rohit Singh (29th) were the winners goal-getters.
Yadvindra Public School of Mohali defeated St Anne’s of Chandigarh by 2-0. YPS forged ahead in the 7th seventh minute when they were awarded a penalty and Viswapreet converted it with ease. Samawrveer Singh made it beyond doubt with a goal in the 18th minute.
Saupin’s School, Sector 32, Chandigarh routed St Marry’s School by 3-0. Uday scored a brace by netting in the 14th and 40th minutes. In between Lakshay added one goal in the 20th minute.
Baptish School of Chandigarh got a walkover against St Peter’s School, Sector 37 who have withdrawn from the competitions.
Ryan International, Sector 49 beat Jaininder School of Panchkula by 3-0. Karan (7th and 18th) and Veera (10th) were the scorers.
DPS of Pinjore got the better of St Xavier’s School of with an aggregate 5-4 margin on penalties after the teams played a two-all draw. Shubham (23rd), and Sachit Narang (37th) scored for DPS Pinjore. Parmod (27th) and Ben (32d) netted for Xavier’s. Sachit, Sbhbham and Rohit converted their penalties. Ben and Austin converted their spot kicks in the tie-breaker for Xavier’s.
In the last match of the day, Stepping Stone of Chandigarh defeated Holly Child of Panchkula by 3-1. Pranshu gave Holly Child the lead in the 3rd minute. Munjal restored parity for Stepping Stone in 16th minute. Sanamvir netted int he 30th and 35th minutes for Stepping Stones.
Earlier, Director Town and Country Planning Haryana SS Dhillon inaugurated the tournament. Mr Dhillon, who is also president of Chandigarh Softball Association, announced a grant of Rs 20,000 to be given as prize money in addition to the cash awards the organisers are giving.
PRIZE MONEY INCREASED: The winners will now receive Rs 12,000, runners-up Rs 8100, bronze medalist Rs 7100 and losing semi-finalists Rs 5100. The best player and the best goalkeeper of the tournament will receive Rs 5100 each. The best upcoming player will also get Rs 5100.
