CHANDIGARH, March 29 :An unbeaten 109-run partnership between opener Daksh Aggarwal (70 not out) and Manjot Singh (65 not out) paved the way for Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy to begin their campaign with a stern warning to their rivals as they scored an effortless nine-wicket triumph over Yadvindra
Public School, Mohali in the opening Pool A match of the Chandigarh Inter-Academy Cricket Tournament for Under-13 at the St Stephen’s School ground in Sector 45 here today.
Organised by the DP Cricket Academy, YPS Academy batted first and were restricted to 156 all out in 29.5 overs. Subeer Hayer (23), Nikhil (29) and Parnav (27) were their principal scorers. Amit (3 for 26) and Parnav (2 for 35) were the most successful bowlers for DPAC Academy.
Facing a target of 157 for victory in a 30-over-a-side fixture, DPAC Academy Aggarwal Brothers –Karan and Daksh – gave their team a solid start by putting on 51 runs before the former was trapped leg before wicket by Nikhil. Karan made 19 runs which included three boundaries.
Manjot Singh joined his senior partner Daksh and they flayed the YPS Academy bowlers as they realized 109 runs for the unbeaten second wicket partnership. DPAC Academy achieved their target in 23 overs by scoring 158 for 1.
Batting with confidence, Daksh made unbeaten 70 from just 63 deliveries. Manjot’s hurricane knock of 65 came from 56 balls.
Earlier, Madam Diana Carver inaugurated the tournament. Cricket Dronacharya Desh Prem Azad and Principal-Director Harold Carver were also present on the occasion.
