CHANDIGARH, OCT 11 : An 85-run partnership for the third wicket between Talwinderjit Singh and Jagpreet helped Desh Prem Azad Cricket Academy taste their first win after defeating APJ Academy by four wickets in the Inter-Academy Cricket Tournament for Under-14 being organised by DP Azad Cricket Academy here.
Playing their third match after suffering two successive defeats, Azad Academy achieved their target in 27.4 overs as they scored 161 for 6 in reply to APJ Academy’s total of 157 for 7 in allotted 30 overs.
Azad Academy started on a disappointing note as both their openers were back into the pavilion with scoreboard reading 46 for 2. However, left hander Talwinderjit Singh and Jagpreet put their team in a comfortable position as they realised 85 runs for the third wicket stand. Talwinderjit Singh’s brilliant knock of 35 contained three fours and two sixes. Jagpreet slammed three fours and two sixes in his well compiled knock of 35.
Karan Aggarwal and Manjot Singh contributed 17 and 15 not out, respectively. Kapil of APJ Academy bagged 2 for 18.
Earlier, APJ Academy posted 157 for 7 in stipulated 30 overs. Kapil (56, 7x4s, 1×6) and Narinder (48, 2x4s, 1×6) were their main scorers. Azad’s Academy’s right arm medium pacer Amrit Singh was the most successful bowler as he took three wickets for 24 runs. Malwinderjit got 2 for 26.
