CHANDIGARH, SEPT 23 :Tushar and Nisha made it a memorable double by winning two finals on the penultimate day of the 20th Yonex Chandigarh State Badminton Championship being organised by Chandigarh Badminton Club under the patronage of the Chandigarh Badminton Association at the Sector 42 Badminton Hall here today.
Tushar took just 30 minues to defeat his doubles partner Mahip by 21-14, 21-14 in the boys under-19 singles final. In the first game Tushar led 5-4 but Mahip took three points in a row to lead 7-5. Lanky Tushar then levelled the score at 9-all, 10-all, 11-all before wrapping up the game at 17-13. Tushar trailed by 3-6 and 8-9 before staging fine rally to lead 11-9 and thereafter he did not look back and won by 21-14 in the second game.
Tushar then partnered Mahip to end the challenge of Harmaninder and Abhinav by 21-13, 21-16 in the boys under-19 doubles final.
Nisha had a smooth sailing in the girls under-19 final against Chetna. Nisha raced to an early 5-1 lead and kept the pressure on her rival to win at 21-16. In the second game, Nisha jumped to a 5-0 lead and continued to score points as she won by 21-15. The final lasted just 17 minutes.
International Oscar Bansal who is doing engineering at UIT, Panjab University, and Vivek Sharma moved into the men’s singles final.
Exhibiting his court craft, Oscar Bansal overpowered Ashish Sharma by 21-12, 21-15 on the centre court in the well-contested semi-final. An aggressive Bansal was more speedy and deceptive as he recorded authentic victory in the semi-final. Trading stroke for stroke, Oscar and Ashish were 4-all in the first game. With better control, Oscar then won four successive points to gain an 8-4 lead. He slowly continued to build his lead and clinched the first game at 21-12. In the second game the score read 3-3, 4-4 before Oscar forged ahead at 7-4 before winning at 21-15.
Vivek Sharma upset second seed Pankaj Nathani by 21-13, 21-17 in the second semi-final.
Pankaj however had the consolation of winning the men’s doubles final. Partnering Ashish, Pankaj Nathani defeated Oscar Bansal and Vivek Sharma 21-10, 18-21, 21-12 in the men’s doubles final.

Boys U-19 doubles: Tushar and Mahip bt harmaninder and Abhinav 21-13, 21-16.
Girls Under-19 singles (final): Nisha bt Chetna 21-6, 21-5.
Girls Under-19 doubles (final): Nisha and Chetna bt Gurleen and Deepika 21-18, 21-10.
Men’s singles (semi-finals): Oscar Bansal bt Ashish Sharma 21-12, 21-15, Vivek Sharma bt Pankaj Nathani 21-13, 21-17.
Men’s doubles (final): Ashish and Pankaj bt Oscar Bansal and Vivek Sharma 21-10, 18-21, 21-12.
Veterans singles (final): Sudhir and Raman bt AK MIttal and GS Sahni 18-21, 21-16, 21-7.
Women’s doubles (s-final): Purnika and Nisha bt Bhawna and Geeta 21-18, 21-14.
