CHANDIGARH, JUNE 5 :Justifying his top billing Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association trainee Digvijay Singh Mehta from Himachal Pradesh and Mehak Singh, also of Chandigarh, won the boys and girls Under-18 singles titles, respectively, in the AITA Championship Series Tennis Tournament hosted by Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association at the Sector 10 Tennis Stadium here today.Promising Digvijay Singh Mehta did not encounter much resistance from fourth seed Mandeep Singh Gill, also of Chandigarh, faced no difficulty in winning the first set at 6-1. However, plucky Mandeep Gill put up a good show in the second set. But Digvijay bagged the second set at 7-5 to claim the title.
Mehak Singh of Chandigarh overpowered second seed Ravnoor Kaur, also of Chandigarh in the girls Under-18 singles final by 6-3, 6-1.
Second seeded Syesha B Dalal and second seeded Dhruv Aggarwal of Uttar Pradesh clinched the girls under-14 girls and boys singles titles, respectively.
Syesha B. Dalal executed some good ground strokes to defeat Haryana’s Victoria Chahal in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 in the girls Under-14 singles final.
Dhruv Aggarwal proved too good for sixth seed Karan Salwan of Delhi in the boys Under-14 singles final. Dominating the game, Dhruv won the first set without dropping even a singles game. Karan put up improved show but Dhruv clinched the set at 6-2 to wrap up the title.
Former Director General of Police, Punjab, and CLTA secretary Sarabjit Singh distributed the prizes.

Boys Under-18 singles: 1-Digvijay S. Mehta (HP, CLTA) bt 4-Mandeep Singh Gill (CLTA) 6-1, 7-5.
