The India Post, Chandigarh,27 January 2009 : The Department of Gandhian Studies is organizing a three day International Conference under the tutelage of the Indian Society of Gandhian Studies in its XXXIst Annual Conference to be held on 28-30th January, 2009 at Gandhi Bhawan, Panjab University , Chandigarh .
A large number of delegates across India and abroad are coming to attend this conference. The main themes of the conference are, (I) Mahatma Gandhi and challenges of twenty-first centuries (ii) Promotion of Gandhian Studies/Peace and Non-violence centers in India and abroad (iii) Training in Non-violence. The delegates will discuss the current issues like terrorism, environment and peace in three-day conference and put forth the ideas of Mahatma Gandhi to resolve these issues.
Professor J N Sharma, Organizing secretary & Chairman, Department of Gandhian Studies told that for the first time the department is going to organize such a big conference in which the renowned Gandhian thinkers like Professor B R Duggar, Professor R P Mishra, Professor William Zoltan from Hungry, Professor D Gopal, Professor R K Manitripathi and Professor R P Diwedi will present their papers. “The key note address of International Conference will be delivered by Sh T N Chaturvedi, Ex-Governor, Karnataka at 11 am on 28th January while Presidential Address will be given by Professor R C Sobti, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University ,” adds Professor Sharma. More than 150 delegates have confirmed their participation for the said conference.
