By Kulbir Singh Kalsi, Chandigarh : A day light robbery attempt at SBI Kahnaur Village branch was averted by the vigilant and alert guards of the branch by displaying extra ordinary courage, presence of mind and timely action. The guards fought bravely with the three armed robbers, who had come determined to rob the branch.
The three armed robbers came on stolen motorcycle at the branch at about 1200hrs . One robber managed to enter the branch where as two robbers were prevented from entering the branch.
Shri Naresh Kumar, Bank Guard immediately pulled down the shutter from the outside and fought physically , single handedly with a the two armed robbers outside the branch. In the process Shri Naresh Kumar, Bank Guard received four bullet injuries but in spite of the injuries he continued to fight without caring for his personal safety and forced the robber to flee from the spot.
Meanwhile Shri Rajesh Kumar, guard who was inside the branch also fought bravely with the robber in spite of having been injured with three bullets, without caring for his personal safety and overpowered the robber and snatched his pistol too. Meanwhile, other staff members also came to their aid. The robber and the pistol was latter handed over to the police.
This act of bravery and valour displayed by the guards has been highly appreciated by the Chief General Manager of Chandigarh Circle and the Inspector General of Police, Rohtak Range.
