By s.p pandey , 23 Mar : Bahujan Samaj Party workers burnt an effigy of local MP and Minister of State for Finance, Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal at Darua village, opposite Railway Station here today. They were protesting against the willful demolition drive being conducted by Chandigarh Administraion at Darua village.
BSP leader Gurpreet Singh Happy said, “Once again the residents of Darua village have been facing the brunt of anti-people policies of the Central UPA Government. The demolition squad of the administration restarted its drive today. This is happening when the local Member of Parliament hails from the Congress party, which is ruling the nation under the umbrella of UPA.”
He further added, “We were told that if we wanted to stop the demolition drive, we should declare to cast votes in favour of Congress candidate in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
BSP state convener and party candidate from Chandigarh seat, Mr Harmohan Dhawan held a meeting with the local panchayat. He said, “Mr Bansal himself had announced that no construction outside the Lal Dora area will be touched under the demolition drive, but it is happening time and again.”
Later in the evening, the people of Darua village gathered and burnt an effigy of Mr Pawan Kumar Bansal. Prominent among them who were present on the occasion included Mr D S Aulakh, Mr B K Sood, Mr Sunil Sharma, Mr Harinder Khanna, Mr Jitendra Bhatia and Mr Ram Sumer Maurya.
