CHANDIGARH-July 03, 2009: The Vice-Chancellor addressed all the Chairpersons of the Teaching Departments. Among other issues discussed, curbing of menace of ragging in the university campus was stressed upon. He told that Anti Ragging Committee, Anti-ragging squads, Monitoring Cells and Mentoring Cells at the level of Hostels and Teaching Departments will be set up to check ragging on the Campus.Posters exhibiting the law prohibiting the ragging and punishments to those found guilty will be prominently displayed in the departments, hostels and other vulnerable places. The students seeking admission in the departments and hostels, are required to furnish along with the admission forms the undertaking signed by them and their parents/guardians separately to the effect that they shall not indulge in the ragging and abide by the punishment awarded in case of their having been indulged in ragging.
He told that the seats will be allocated to the departments individually which, in turn, shall further be allotted to
the admitted students by the chairperson of the respective department strictly on merit basis as per the quota of seats allocated to them. The students desirous of seeking admission in the hostels, shall be required to submit to the respective department the admission form within 3 days from the date of start of the classes/academic session.
The Chairpersons while sending the forms for admission in the hostels shall verify permanent as well as correspondence address of the student given in the hostel form with a residential proof to be provided with the form. The Vice-Chancellor told that the salary, provident fund, fee, attendance of students
and leave by the teachers would be on line from the new academic session according to Prof. Naval Kishore, Dean Student Welfare, P.U.
