Jan. 25 :- On the eve of Republic Day, Chandigarh Administration organized a Cultural Bonanza in Tagore Theatre, Sector 18, today. The Adviser to the UT Administrator, Chandigarh, Mr. Pradip Mehra was the Chief Guest in the Cultural Bonanza. Adviser, on the occasion, said that today India is at the forefront in every field of life. He said that India is the wonderful example of democracy.
Talking about the development works in city beautiful, Mr. Mehra said that administration is doing hard to development the southern sectors of the city. To initiate it administration is coming up with 4 new gardens in the southern part of the city. Talking about the education, Adviser said that under the Sarva Siksha Abhyan administration is providing the education to a large number of children of the city. He said that to provide the health facilities to the residents of the city administration is going to upgrade the health system of city beautiful.
Remembering Le Corbusier, Mr. Mehra said that to save the culture of the city administration with the help of center government is going to start projects to scrub the buildings and to maintain them. He said that administration is also keeping an eye on illegal construction and the slums in the city.Mr. Mehra also invited the residents to make city beautiful more beautiful.
This is the time when every individual should be proud of being an Indian. Mr. Mehra congratulated the children of various Government and Private Schools for putting up such a mesmerizing show. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the teachers for training the students and also for the innovative ways they chose for the depiction of India’s freedom struggle. He complimented the Education Department for organizing the colorful event. The various performances by the students left the audience spell bound. The colorful attires, music, dance and Bhangra was appreciated by all. The various performances in the function included Saraswati Vandana by the students of GMSSS-40, Skit by GMSSS-47, Haryanavi dances by GMSSS-33, Dance on Patriotic theme by DAV School, Sector-15, a Patriotic song by students of Navodya Vidyalaya, Sector 25 and Bhangra by GMSSS-32.
Home Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas, Chairman, Chandigarh Housing Board, Mr. Mohanjeet, Joint Secretary Finance and DPI (S), Mr. Ajoy Sharma, Director Cultural Affairs, Mr. Kamlesh Kumar and other senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration were present during the function.
