13 Mar : As part of the UT Administration’s ongoing campaign against female foeticide and to create discrimination free society a Content Developers’ workshop was organized at the GCG-11, Chandigarh. The workshop was inaugurated by Mrs. Raji P Shrivastava, Director higher Education, Chandigarh Administration.
In her inaugural speech she underlined the objective of the seminar and the need to broad base the campaign fully equipped with the right kind of messages. She said we live in a world where words can change the world so why not change the words. Highlighting some of the caveat in the campaign so far she stressed that it is important to do a reality check and that this is possible only when larger sentiments and settings are taken in to account.
The workshop was attended by more than 50 participants from different colleges and institutions who are in to creative writing and theatre activities. The workshop was conducted by Prof. Pushpinder Syal of the Dept. of English, Panjab university, Chandigarh in the presence of eminent personalities like Prof. Rana Nayar, Dr. Rani Balbir Kaur, Prof. Sherry sabharwal, Mr. Damanjit, Prof. Rama Rattan and others.
The workshop intends to generate contemporary messages, scripts and stories to highlight the issue of girl child discrimination as prevalent in the city and in the country in general. These messages and creative inputs would then be used in the future events.
The organizers of the workshop Dr. Iqbal judge and Dr. Jyoti seth of the GCG-11 thanked the participants for their interest and participation in the workshop. Dr. Promila Kaushal , Principal of the college earlier welcomed the dignitaries and the guests and hoped that the workshop will prove to be a milestone in our efforts to make our society gender equal.
