S.P.Pandey , Chandigarh March 20, 2009 :Chandigarh State BJP Traders Cell has held Congress party responsible for the hefty increase in the rates of fines for building violations and misuse of buildings by the Chandigarh Administration.. Terming the rise in the rates of penalty for building violations and misuse as a pre election kick to Traders, Industrialists and Home owners by Congress party, they demanded immediate withdrawal of this increase.
State Traders Cell President Kailash Chand Jain, Vice President Ram Karan Gupta, General Secretary Harish Garg, Secretary Pramod Sharma and Media In-charge Vinod Agrawal said in a statement here today that the during the last elections Congress party had promised reform of building by-laws and assured the traders that on coming to power the party will watch the interests of the traders and industrialists.
Jain said during the last five years Congress party has done nothing to guard the interests of trading community. Like the building by-laws reform promise other promises of Congress party too remain unfilled. He reminded that during the last elections Dr Manmohan Singh had promised in the presence of Mr Pawan Bansal, the local MP, that on coming to power of Congress party Balanced Rent Act will be implemented in the city and other problems of traders will be solved.. Fortunately Dr Manomhan Singh who made these promises became Prime Minster and Mr Pawan Bansal, for whom he had sought votes, became minister of state for Finance. But even after coming to power they did not fulfill any of their promises to traders and industrialists of the city. They asked with what face will congress go to the traders and ask for their votes.
They said Mr Satya Pal Jain has assured representatives of traders that after formation of BJP / NDA government in centre it will be ensured that consultations are held with traders and industrialists before taking decisions in matter having bearing on their interests.
