CHANDIGARH, December 9: Several Congress MLAs today asked Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal not to shed crocodile tears. They asked him as why did he shut his eyes while his cousin and former Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal had let lose a rein of terror in the area by slapping false cases on thousands of Congress workers.
In a joint statement party MLAs Avtar Singh Brar, Joginderpal Jain, Jeet Mohinder Sidhu, Joginder Singh and AS Shant said, Sukhbir was very much part and parcel of the political terror the Badals had let lose across Punjab, particularly in the Malwa region to avenge his party’s defeat in the area.
Mr Brar disclosed that he had personally met the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and the Director General of Police to bring to his notice the victimization of the Congress workers in his area. He said, Mr Badal told him that all this was being done without his knowledge.
The MLAs observed, Mr Sukhbir Badal was now shedding crocodile tears only as he himself presided over the victimization and criminal intimidation of the Congress workers. They said, people of Punjab know it too well that how much terror was let lose on them and who was behind it and now was their turn to avenge it by way of ballot.
They said, it was quite unprecedented in the political history of Punjab when terror and intimidation was used to settle scores with political opponents. There can be no atonement for such sins and each and every sin will be accounted for no matter who sheds how many crocodile tears, the MLAs asserted.
