Chandigarh, April 23: Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has accused the Congress government of violating 'Model Code of Conduct' and adopting corrupt & malpractices to achieve the selfish political objectives.Addressing a press conference here today, INLD Secretary General & Rajya Sabha MP, Mr Ajay Singh Chautala called upon the electorate to teach a suitable lesson to Congress Party for the spiraling prices & wide spread corruption by electing INLD candidates with huge margins and defeating Congress candidates in all the three Assembly by-elections in the state.Mr Chautala said that the state government is trying to misguide & confuse the electorate and the revision of eligibility criteria in the so called house sites scheme for the SC & BPL families is 'a shameful exercise' to influence the voters. He said that the announcement of opening of a new Engineering college in Gohana, which was made through the Khanpurkalan Women University Vice Chancellor, is also a gross violation of model conduct.
Mr Chautala disclosed that the Election Commission has been apprised of the violations and if the need was felt, the party delegation would also meet the Election Commission in this regard. He said that the people of the state are cursing the state government for the irregular and insufficient electricity supply but the state Electricity Minister, Mr Ranndip Singh Surjewala was trying to achieve 'sham patting' by issuing totally false and misleading statements. He said that his recent statement made in Sirsa regarding the electricity was also a violation of code of conduct.
INLD leader said that the government is frustrated as it has sensed its imminent defeat in the three by-elections and so it was now trying to misguide the people by bogus claims and statements. He said that INLD not only adopted the democratic system for the elections, it has taken a decisive lead over its opponents due to early selection of the most able and deserving candidates.
Mr Chautala said that all the three INLD candidates are quite educated and 'Heavy weights'. He said that INLD candidate from Adampur, Prof. Sampat Singh has been MLA for five times apart from being Finance Minister in the INLD government. "INLD candidate from Gohana, Dr K.C. Bangar is an Agriculture Scientist of international repute, apart from being a former Vice Chancellor of GJU and former Chairman of HPSC", he added. INLD candidate from Indri is a Doctor by profession and is well known in his area for his gentle & friendly nature, he further added.
While taking a dig at sitting Bhiwani MP, Mr Ajay Chautala said that INLD was fully prepared for the Bhiwani Lok Sabha by-election but despite his public statements, the so called Chief Ministerial dreamer did not submit resignation and to avoid the bye-election he fled to the foreign country otherwise INLD would also had won Bhiwani.
In reply to a query on Panchkula Municipal Corporation elections, Mr Chautala said that Congress government has lost all political and moral decorum and is adopting unashamed tactics of purchasing & abducting the elected MCs. In the larger interest of democracy, Mr Chautala called upon all the political parties in general and elected MCs in particular to unitedly defeat such unfair tactics of the government.
INLD leader said that the government has failed to curb the rising prices and inflation, there was lack of electricity & water, day by day deteriorating law & order situation. He said that the government has been involved in various scams like SEZ scam, Power Purchase scam, Manesar Land scam. The people are angry due to non-completion of SYL canal, the selling of government jobs, unemployment, black marketing of essential commodities like gas cylinders, non-fulfillment of election promises by the Congress government, wide spread corruption and property dealing by the highly placed government functionaries in the state.
Mr Chautala said that the government has failed on all fronts and the people were waiting for 22 May, the date of by-elections so that a suitable lesson could be taught to the most corrupt and non performing government in the history of the state.
