Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh ,July 2 : The Most awaited Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010 Express Chugs in at Chandigarh Railway Station today. As the Train arrived at the Platform No. 4 this morning, very much decorated, Green Colored coaches designed specially to promote the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games was received and inaugurated by UT Finance-cum-IT Secretary, Mr Sanjay Kumar in the presence of huge crowed. The Train will stay at the station for 2 days and will be open to public from 9 am to 7 pm. Train has 11 coaches in all – five of which are featuring Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010 and six of which are devoted to IT sector.
Coach 1 depicts the History of the Commonwealth Games, right from its first game to the present date, along with the details of the present games i.e. The Shera (Mascot Of Delhi Commonwealth Games 2010), Queens Baton Relay, Green Games Concept and Batons History and route of relay.
Coach 2 has been designed so as to give a general acquaintance with the venue of the events of CWG-2010. It also depicts the massive changeover of Delhi in order to host this world class event for the first time in the Indian History. The dummy models of the stadiums and infrastructures of development of the city were also displayed.
Coach 3 has been designed to give the knowledge on the various sports disciplines which have been included in this Commonwealth Games 2010. The attempt is to make our masses aware of different versions of games, their format and sports gear, equipment etc. Besides, details of the venues along with dates etc. have been displayed.
Coach 4 is dedicated to the outstanding sports persons of the India. Suitable photographs of such icons have been displayed in this couch so as to make the masses aware of these heroes of the past as well as present.
Coach 5 exhibits the details of the contribution of Railways in the field of sports and highlights star Railway Sports persons and displays list of railway Sports persons who have won prestigious Awards. It also has an auditorium where relevant films will be screened along with display of trophies bagged by the Indian Railway Sports Persons.
From here now This Train will commence forward towards Una, the next station of the Queens Baton, by tomorrow and from there it will reach Shimla after another 2 days journey.
