Joint Action Committee (JAS) of Chandigarh district council of Punjab & Chandigarh College Teachers’s Union (PCCTU) and Federation of Non-teaching Employees of Non Govt. Colleges of Chandigarh has decided to launch agitation demanding revision of pay scales of non-teaching staff at par with their counterparts working in govt. colleges of Chandigarh.In a statement Dr. Ghansham Dev, convener of Joint Action committee and Shri R.K. Sharma, President of Non-teaching Employees said that agitation has been trust upon them by MHRD, Govt. of India which has been sitting over the file for more than a year. They said that in the interest of students Joint Action committee had suspended agitation on February, 4, 2011, hoping that govt. of Indian will see reason. They said that the responsibility for the present situation lies upon the Finance Department of U.T. which has created confusion on the issue despite clear precedents.
Employee leaders said that they will hold a joint rally on August 18 and will start chain fast on the same day.
