Chandigarh, May 10:Atulaya Healthcare organised an academic programme on clinical uses of CT Technology-update 2008 for medical practitioners of the tricity here today, informed former Head of Cardiology, PGI, and Director of Atulaya Healthcare, Dr. R.P. Sapru, here today.Dr. Anirudh Kohli, Chief Radiologist with Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, and Consultant Radiologist with Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, was the guest faculty. Considering that heart disease is so widespread in India.Dr. Kohli said that new technology that has become available only recently has made CT Coronary Angiography very attractive for non-invasive coronary angiography. The information available is very similar to that obtained with the usual coronary angiography that requires hospitalization. The new technology is helping the doctors in diagnosing the problem without any invasive procedure, quickly and correctly.
Dr. Kohli said that Atulaya Healthcare is only one of a couple of institutions in the country, and the only one in Chandigarh, that is equipped with the latest angiography scanner that permits reliable visualisation of coronary arteries without any need for hospitalisation, as required in conventional angiography.The new technology is also useful for kidney donors and those requiring angiography for brain, kidneys, lungs, and other blood vessels, Dr. R.P. Sapru added.The meeting was chaired by Dr. N. Khandelwal, Chairman of the Department of Radio-diagnosis of the PGI. Dr. R.P. Sapru and Dr. Rajarshi Bahadur, shared their experiences in coronary CT angiography and wholebody imaging.
