Chandigarh, March 08 Citizen Awareness Group in collaboration with Ludhiana Stock Exchange Organized investor Awareness Workshop on International Women’s Day in Press Club, Chandigarh. Sh. Surinder Verma Chairman of the Citizens Awareness Group said that the objective of the workshop was to make the investors aware of their rights and responsibilities., risks involved and remedies for investment related problems they might encounter relating to their investment and returns in the securities market. He also shed light on the objectives and activities undertaken by the group.
Chairman of Ludhiana stock exchange S.P. Sharma, Executive Director of Ludhiana Stock Exchange Pooja Kohli and SEBI’s Representative Varsha Aggarwal were the speakers on this occasion.
All three speakers were of the opinion that making money in stocks has nothing to do with luck and only they make money who study the market and individual companies thoroughly and make their decision on the basis of certain fundamentals.
Speaking on the occasion Varsha Aggarwal told the assembled women that only investment has to make it to earn in capital and equity market is in knowledge. She warned the prospective investors that equity market is full of risks and it was important to know ones risk taking capacity. Those who are wary of risk can opt for other instrument like mutual funds, bonds and fixed deposits.
Mrs. Pooja Kohli also stressed the need of awareness. She advised the women not to trust anybody blindly while dealing in capital market. Do not believe the experts, but even those who advise on different business channels and always go through the profile of the company thoroughly before buying shares. Sh. S.P. Sharma lauded the role played by women in different fields including capital market. He told the women that they should not only have knowledge about the company, the shares of which they are going to buy, they should have knowledge about the various economic parameters. For example they should know a thing or two about National Budget and Economic Survey. They should also go through the financial summary of the company in which they are going to invest.
All the three eminent speakers apprised the women of various technical terms related with stock market like DEMAT Account etc. More than 200 women from different walks of life attended the function.
