CHANDIGARH, DEC 4 ; Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh hogged the limelight as they have secured an identical tally of 20 points each on the second day of the 17th All India Forest Games and Sports Meet at the Panjab University Campus here today.
Chattisgarh have so far collected two gold, one silver and three bronze medals. Madhya Pradesh won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals to share the top spot with Chattisgarh.
Kerala, with two gold and two silver medals, were lying at the third position with 14 points. Karnataka (1-1-2) were at the fourth spot with 12 points.
Nidhi Srivastva shot first gold for Punjab by winning 50 metres in rifle shooting competition. Kulwinder Bhullar of Punjab won gold in shot put for men in the veterans category.
In swimming events Sudhir Nema of Madhya Pradesh won two gold medals by standing first in the 100 metres. breast-stroke and 100 metres backstroke competitions. The first prize in 100 metres butterfly competition in the men’s open category went to Amar Husain of Tripura.
Middle distance runner Sukhnandan Lal Dhruv of Chhatisgarh won gold in 1500 metres race in the men’s open category. In the veteran category A.G. Minj of Chhatisgarh stood first in long jump. M. Haneefa of Andaman Nicobar won the gold medal in high jump event in men’s open category. Sinthal Kumar of Tamil Nadu got the first prize in discus throw. Roze Marry Antony of Kerala bagged the first position in high jump while. ShaJi S. of Kerala stood first in long jump in the men’s senior veteran category. Sarita P.M. of Karnataka bagged gold in shot put.
Punjab Revenue Minister Ajit Singh Kohar was the chief guest today and distributed prizes.
