CHANDIGARH, DEC 2 : Chandigarh won one gold, one silver and five bronze medals in the 54th National School Games Hockey U-19 (Boys) which concluded in Patiala on Monday.
The hockey team comprising Shamsher Singh, Abhimanyu , Paramjot Singh, Manpreet Singh, Vijay Dehswal, Yatin Kumar, Mohit Singh Thakur, Rohit Thakur, Ashish (D.A.V Sr. Sec School-8), Nischaijit Singh (GMSSS-19), Diljot Singh, Amrit Pal, Major Singh (GMHS-42), Harjit Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Sandeep Singh (GMSSS-35) finished a creditable runners-up. Jaswinder Singh Sai (coach), Bhalinder Singh (Manager) and Paramjit Singh (general manager) accompanied the team as officials.
Pooja of Government Model High School, Sector 37GMHS-37 claimed the lone gold for Chandigarh as the Chandigarh judoka occupied the top position in the girls U-14 category.
Dharminder (GMSSS-35, U-14 boys), Seema (GMHS-37, girls U-14), Babita (GMHS-37, girls u-14), Chandan (St. Stephen School- 45, boys u-17) and Rovind (GMSSS-40, boys u-19) bagged bronze medals in judo competitions.
Krishan Lal (judo coach, Sports Department Chandigarh), Govind Singh (boys coach), Rupinder Kaur (girls coach), Karnail Kaur (manager) and Pramjit Singh (general manager) were the officials of the team.
