Chandigarh : Facebook subscribers of Chandigarh,Mohali and Panchkula today meet with DIG Alok Kumar during special meet arranged by the Chandigarh Police at sector 29 Chandigarh Traffic Police line Chandigarh on Friday.
They discusesd traffic issues specially road safety & to educate commuters about road traffic sense. Police authority asked subscribers how to create awareness about Chandigarh Traffic Police Facebook page .DSP/Traffic Vijay Kumar was also present during the meeting.
1.Cycle ricksha should be banned on some of the prime location, where the traffic is more & conjusted like sectors 17,21,22,Madhya marg, road from sector 9 to transport chowk. Cyclist & cycle ricksha do not ply on their service road and even traffic personel do not object them particularly on madhya marg from zirakpur to sector 32 side.
2 Auto rickshas are the main culprit to spoil the image of CHANDIGARH BEAUTIFUL. God knows whether RTO has any controll on them, such a black smoke(Polution) comes from their silencer that the fellow riders particularly if it is 2 wheeler following them and which becomes untolrable. Most of the autos raxines (Covers) are badly torn that one can not escape from the out sides temprature.Authority should do some thing about the Autos plying between tricity. ACTUALLY ALL THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTS (CTU BUSES, TAXIES & AUTO RICKSAS) SHOULD HAVE ANNUAL PASSING FROM RTO AND AFTER CHECKING THEIR CONDITIONS as prescribed under RTO rules AND ACCORDINGLY THEIR PERMIT SHOULD BE RENEWED. Even CTU buses has very heavy smoke which also pollute the atmosphere, concern authority of CITU is not taking care of their new buses which ic polluting heavily.Auto ricksha older then 15 years should be descarded and should not be allowed to ply.
Day by day the trrafic is increasing so the cycles, cycle rickshas should be allowed in particular areas because it is very irrtating that 2-3 cycle rickshas upsets the signals by the time they cross the signals it again becomes red, so hardly few of the moterist could move from the signals. otherwise during peak time they should be banned in main markets.
I have to suggest that in chandigarh people can afford to purchase any kind of vehicle, but they donot have traffic sense, I have seen so many car drivers that at the signal they are standing on left side or center lane, but when they get the green signal to move they immdiatly try to come on to take RIGHT side or try to take U turn, which is realy a shamefull act on their part, but I must say that if a traffic personnel is standing in middle of the chowk he can take action/ challan for changing the lane. otherwise 100 meters away from signal RTO should paint the ARROW on the road to follow the direction.
