The India Post, Chandigarh 5th Feburary :Renowned Bollywood Singer, Alka Yagnik, noted bollywood actress turned singer, Sanobar Kabir, Punjabi Singer, Labh Janjua would be performing in the three day Chandigarh Rose Festival commencing from February 20. This was revealed in a meeting held today under the chairmanship of UT Home Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas. The festival will be inaugurated by the Punjab Governor and Administrator UT, Chandigarh, General (Retd.) S.F. Rodrigues on February 20.
The Rose Festival will have a Fashion show for the first time on the inaugural day, which would be followed by Laser Show. The major attraction of the festival would be the two mega nites where eminent and famous personalities from the glamour world will rock the city with their thrilling and energetic performances. Well-known bollywood playback singer, Ms. Alka Yagnik will perform on February 22 along with popular comedian VIP, of Laughter Challenge Fame. Noted bollywood actress turned singer, Ms. Sanobar Kabir will enthrall the audience by her scintillating performance on February 21, together with Punjabi singer Labh Janjua. Mega fire works will also be displayed on the concluding day.
Artists of North Zone Cultural Center will mesmerize the visitors by performing cultural and folk dances through out the festival. Apart from NZCC performances, various other activities including competition of Rose Prince and Princess, on the spot painting competition, photography, antakshri and kite flying competition will also be organized. Food Courts, Stalls and Amusement Park at Leisure Valley would also be the center of attraction in the festival.
In the meeting, it was decided that no commercial activity including installing stalls will be allowed in Rose Garden and on Jan Marg. Reviewing the Security arrangements, it was deliberated to install appropriate barricades in Leisure valley to avoid any outside disturbances and prepare a proper parking plan to avoid any kind of chaos.
Special Secretary Finance, Mrs. Raji P. Shrivastava, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Dr. Roshan Sankaria, SSP, Mr. S.S. Srivastava, MD, CITCO, Mr. D. K. Tiwari, Director Tourism, Mr. Samwartak Singh, Chief Architect, Ms. Sumit Kaur, Chief Engineer, Mr. Krishanjit Singh and other officials of the Administration were also present in the meeting.
