Sanjay Pahwa, Chandigarh: 1991 batch IPS Rajender Pal Upadhyaya took over as Inspector General of Police Chandigarh. Earlier he was Additional Director, Enforcement Directorate, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, New Delhi. Mr. Upadhyaya M.Sc. from H.N. Bahaguna University, Garhwal has also done M.B.A. (Disaster Management) from I.P. University, Delhi and M. Phil (Master of Philosophy) in Botany from Delhi University. A highly decorated officer Mr. Upadhyaya is also winner of Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), and Meritorious Services and Police (Special Duty) medal.
After assuming charge he interacted with media persons. During the interaction he said that even the minor crime in the city would be given same priority as any major crime. Besides focusing on basic policing, community policing will also be one area that will require active participation, use of modern techniques to combat crime and satisfying the city residents by ensuring complete accessibility.
