Chandigarh January 11th: To give a boost to art and culture and present Chandigarh as a tourism hub, the Chandigarh administration is organizing a six-day Arts and Heritage Festiva beginning,from March 27 to April 1st, 2010 .A meeting regarding the same was chaired today by Sh Ram Niwas, Home Secretary. UT with Director Cultural Affairs, UT Chd, Padma Bhushan Dr. B.N. Goswami , Chairman of the Sangeet Natak Akademi , Chairman of Lalit Kala Akademi, Chairperson Sahitya Akademi , Mrs Neelam Mann Singh, Mrs.Seema Bhalla , Sh. Subhash Ghosh and Dr. S.K.Punia.
The six day festivity will put forth the best of theatre pieces, Dance, Vocal and instrumental performances by national and international artists in the evening. During the day there will be many informative events like Painting workshop, face to face interaction with renowned authors, seminars on visual and literary art, Interactive sessions with renowned artists from art and music fraternity, live demonstration by the painters, post event informative interactions with performers and many more.
It was further decided that in order to spread the festivity among the citizens, the events will be held mainly at Tagore theater, in addition to other prominent places in Chandigarh so that the whole city can become part of the six day celebrations. According to Secretary Cultural affairs Ram Niwas “The Chandigarh Administration is all set to hold Chandigarh Arts and Heritage Festival. Last year it was a big success, the response was tremendous during all six days as the venue was jam packed with art lovers. He further added this year too we are getting the best of artists from music, theater and dance fraternity”. On the concluding day the artists of North Zone Cultural Centre will perform at Plaza, Sector 17.
