Chandigarh, March 6:- The Chandigarh Administration has invited recommendations for “National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement”. UT Home Secretary Mr. Krishna Mohan disclosed that the “National Child Award for Exceptional Achievement” will be given to the children having exceptional abilities and outstanding caliber in different fields such as academics, arts, culture and sports etc.
Mr. Mohan revealed that the award will consist of one Gold Medal for one child on All India basis and Silver Medal for one child from Chandigarh UT. The Gold Medal award includes a cash prize of Rs. 20,000, a citation and a Gold Medal while for Silver Medal a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, a citation certificate
and a silver medal will be given. Children between the age group of 4 to 15 years, who have shown exceptional achievement in any field, will be
considered for the award. The selection of the awardees will be done by 8 member selection committee headed by Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Government of India. Home Secretary revealed that the child to be selected for the award should have unusual talent. A tributes/ traits, which
are claimed to be possessed by the child extra ordinary or exceptional should have been reported in the press or have been trusted by the experts in the field.
Home and Social Welfare Secretary said that the department of Public Instructions (S), Director Sports, Indian Council for child Welfare and other organisations has been asked to recommend the nominations to the Director Social Welfare before June 30. The award will be announced on November 14.
