Chandigarh : PGIMER has installed 37 cameras covering all the outer gates with Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) camera facility as well as each and every entry and exit of every building of the Institute related to patient care with fixed Dome Cameras. Waiting halls and the public counters have also been covered with these CCTV Cameras. The PTZ cameras have facility to move around 360 degree with zoom facility whereas all other cameras are fixed with day and night vision. The approximate cost of this project is about Rs. 40 lac. It will help the Institute in controlling theft, pilferage, unwanted entries etc. It will also help in increasing the effectiveness as well as punctuality of the staff working in PGI. The camera clippings are an authentic tool in the hands of police/investigators for investigation. These cameras have recording facility of one month. The Institute has a dedicated CCTV Control Room where functioning of all these cameras is monitored round-the-clock by the trained security staff.
Today on 9th April, 2012, Sh. P.K. Srivastava, IPS, Inspector General of Police Chandigarh inaugurated the CCTV Camera Facility at the Institute. Sh. Yogesh Chawla, Director, Prof. A.K. Gupta, Medical Superintendent, Additional Prof. Rakesh Kapoor, DDA, Financial Advisor, Superintending Hospital Engineer, Public Relations Officer and Chief Security Officer, PGIMER were among the senior officers who attended this function. The IGP, Chandigarh appreciated the administration of PGIMER for introducing CCTV facility in the Institute.
