15 August :Colorful flags,March past, Patriotic songs, motivational speeches and a pledge to make our city polythene free marked the independence day celebrations at Carmel convent school sector 9 Chandigarh. Carmel celebrated the 62nd Independence of India with vigor and enigmatic. Class 12th commenced the programme with a prayer for the nation, reminded us of India’s ambition that is to eradicate poverty and to wipe every tear from every eye.The chief guest, Mr. Kalia, a dedicated and an inspirational math’s teacher of the school was appreciated for his contribution towards the school . Mr Kalia then hoisted the flag and the entire school got up to sing the national anthem. This was followed by a march past by classes 10th, 11th and 12th, after which class 5 sung a Hindi Patriotic song. Following this,Nazuk kumar of class 12th delivered a motivational speech that ignited a feeling of patriotism in every person’s heart present there.
She not only the hearts with pride by emphasising India’s achievements but also held a mirror to India’s drawbacks. Finally Ishita Swami and Hitali Panwar spoke on our freedom of struggle and the need to value and protect our freedom. The programme was concluded by Mr Kalia, the chief guest who gave the students a few tips and suggestions to ban the use of plastics in school and to encourage car pools.
