Chandigarh, October 31: Mortal remains of Punjab Government Pilot Capt. Dalip Kataria, who died in an air crash was consigned to flames here today at Cremation Ground(Sector 25) with full state honors. He is survived by his wife Smt. Bhawna Kataria, two daughters namely Ms. Lopa, a doctor and Ms. Hemal, a pilot and a son Kapil Kataria, an aerospace engineer .
Punjab Cooperation Minister Mr. Kanwaljit Singh laid the wreath on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister S. Parkash Singh Badal and Mr. R.I. Singh, Chief Secretary Punjab on behalf of Punjab Government. A representative of Indian Air Force also placed wreath on behalf of Air Commodore Mr. Nayar. Besides, Mr. Viswajit Khanna, Secretary Civil Aviation, Mr. Gagandeep Singh Brar, Director, Civil Aviation and Mr. R.K.Kaushik, Additional Secretary Political also laid the wreaths.
Expressing solidarity with the members of bereaved family, Capt. Kanwaljit Singh said that the State has lost an experienced pilot and it was a great loss, which was beyond anyone’s description in words. He assured the family members of the deceased to extend all support and cooperation on behalf of the state government.
Meanwhile, Kapil Kataria, son of the deceased Pilot Capt. Dalip Kataria lit the pyre, a contingent of 10 Punjab Police fired volley of 30 rounds in air and reversed their arms as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
People from different walks of life including senior functionaries of civil and police administration, Air Force besides nears and dears of Capt. Dalip Kataria gave an adieu to their beloved.
