Chandigarh, In wake of bringing global attention towards the human right violations in Tibet, over 80 elderly women who marched from Dharamshala reached Chandigarh. Organized by Tibetan Women Association (TWA), this peace march marks the 24 years of disappearance of Tibetan spiritual leader Panchen Lama – Gendun Choekyi Nyima by Chinese regime. Apart from this peace march, TWA had organized four other peace marches of such nature involving women folks who are making public aware towards the Chinese aggression in Tibet.
These peace marchers strengthened not only by the local Tibetan students but also the members of Ladakh Students Association and others hailing from Lahaul & Spiti and Kinnaur by organizing a candle light vigil today. The march started from Sector 15 and concludes at Sector 17 Plaza. Marchers were carrying placards carrying the plights of Tibet and anti-Chinese slogans.
‘The Panchen Lama. Lama was just six years old when Chinese authorities abducted him along with his family in 1995. Lama’s disappearance has resulted in an international outcry involving world leaders and even UN who condemned this act and call for their release. Over the last two decades, China continuously refusing the dialogues on whereabouts of Lama..” said Kalsang Youdon, Vice President, Central TWA.
