Chandigarh, December 30:- Blood Transfusion Services of Chandigarh have been declared the best in the country by National AIDS Control Organization (NACO), New Delhi at the recently held 3-day ‘Orientation-cum-Training Programme’ on Blood Transfusion Services. The participants from 17 states attended the programme.Director Health Services, Dr. M.S. Bains inaugurated the training programme being organized by State AIDS Control Society, Chandigarh on behalf of NACO. Nine different parameters of blood banking including total blood collection, voluntary blood donation, blood donation camps, IEC activities to promote voluntary donation, trainings of Blood Bank Staff, supervision, reporting and maintenance of data, low HIV sero positivity in selected donors and financial expenditure of all the UT’s & states of the country were taken into account and compared by NACO.
Chandigarh topped the list and its performance was rated as very good (92%) quite ahead of the second best state at 78%. Home & Health Secretary, Mr. Ram Niwas congratulated Project Director, State AIDS Control Society, Dr. Vanita Gupta and Secretary, State Blood Transfusion Council, Dr. Suvir Saxena for strengthening the Blood Transfusion Services in Chandigarh.
Chairman of both State AIDS Control Society & State Blood Transfusion Council, Dr. M.S. Bains said that both the organizations work in association, support and streamline the activities of Blood Banks and donor organizations of Chandigarh and efforts will be made to upgrade & strengthen the Blood Transfusion Services further.
