Barinder Saluja, Chandigarh,Aug. 26 : Initiating its “Blood on Your Hands” campaign, Arrive SAFE, an NGO, held an event at piazza, Sector 17 at 5:30 PM on 26 August 2010, The volunteers removed “A” part of section 304 A with hand-marks in red colour (indicative of blood). This was done to sensitize Road Users who hit and leave the injured road accident victims to die instead of taking them to the hospital to make an attempt to save their lives, This is also an appeal to the Authorities to take strict action in such cases. Subsequently, a Candlelight vigil was held in remembrance of the Road Crash victims.
The latest “Hit and Run case” resulting in the death of a youth, Sukhwinder Singh (21) and his nephew, Harpreet Singh (5) has perturbed the residents of the tricity, The NGO demands a review of the investigation and seeks a fair probe and stringent action against the accused driver and the accomplices for their dubious role in the incident. Arrive SAFE shall be joining hands with Sector Welfare Associations in carrying on this campaign to sensitize the citizens to be responsible on the road. The main aim of Arrive Safe is to educate those who are unaware of the fact that negligent driving leads to fatal accidents, either those who are driving or those who are innocent.
