13 Dec : The members of ‘Blood Bank’ of Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector-36 B, Chandigarh organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Government Medical College and Hospital of Sector-32, Chandigarh and Lions Club Chandigarh. The camp was inaugurated by Shri Ram Niwas, Home Secretary, U.T. Administration Chandigarh.
Kumari Satywati ji, Chairperson of the college, welcomed the Chief Guest and Dr. Savita Basu, Head of the Blood Transfusion Dept., GMCH Sector 32 Chandigarh. Over hundred volunteers from the college and general public donated blood.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Mr. Ram Niwas appreciated and congratulated the students of the college for participating in such a noble cause. He also took the opportunity to sensitize the student teachers on social issue like female foeticide .On the occasion, a monthly feature of releasing a folder by NSS Programme Officers was also held. The fourth sequel of the folder regarding inculcation of moral values among students, namely “Meri Patrika” to celebrate the 158th Birthday of Bhagwan Dev Atma ji was released, in which the teachings of Dev Atma ji was highlighted.
Dr.Jyoti Khanna, Principal of the college stressed the view that teachers are the best medium to create awareness among the masses regarding social issues like blood donation, Female Foeticide, etc. She appreciated and congratulated the organizers Dr. Anuradha Agnihotri and Ms. Anita Arora for their efforts in making this camp a success.
The Blood Donation Camp was concluded by honoring the donors. Gifts were also distributed among the donors which were sponsored by Lions Club, Chandigarh.
