Chandigarh 09th October 2013: Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) Chandigarh’s Panchayat Cell held a meeting at the party office “kamlam” in Sector 33 under the leadership of its convener Mr Balwinder Sharma. BJP Chandigarh chief Mr Sanjay Tandon, the BJP national Panchayat cell co-convener Mr Vijay Shakti and the National executive member Mr Syush Dixit participated in the meeting.
Mr Vijay Shakti, the national co-convener for the BJP Panchayat Cell said that the BJP has always worked in the interest of people. There is an extensive program instituted in the BJP ruled states for the development and the administration of Panchayats. He reassured that once the party comes to power in the Centre, strengthening the Panchayats would be one of its top agenda. Mr Shakti also said that the villages of Chandigarh should also be brought at par with the amenities and facilities being provided by the urban areas.
Mr Tandon while addressing the meeting said that the Congress has weakened the administration of the Panchayats. The Congress party, on one side propagates Gandhian principles and on the other side destabilizes the panchayats. This therefore, confirms the fallacy of their belief in Gandhian principles. Mr Bansal, the MP from Chandigarh firstly, promises to strengthen the village administration and at the same time is trying his best to implement Municipalities in the rural areas.
Mr Balwinder Sharma, Panchayat cell convener of the BJP Chandigarh unit said that there was extensive discussion held on the upcoming Panchayat elections. The Sarpanches of the Chandigarh villages hence demanded from the administration that all the panchayats of the city should be reinstated.
In this event Mr Ramveer Bhatti, BJP Chandigarh vice-president, Mr Jhujjar Singh of the party’s Kisan Morcha, Panchayat committee’s vice-president Mr Shingara Singh, Ward head Mr Satish Mankotia, Raipur Kalan Sarpanch Mr Gurdeep Singh and all the other panches and sarpanches of Chandigarh were present at the meeting.
