Chandigarh, April 25, 09: BIG 92.7 FM Chandigarh, India’s No. 1 FM station, in a first-of-its-kind initiative observed ‘World Book and Copy Rights Day’ in a very special way. Focusing upon the importance of the Books, BIG FM organized a short-story writing competition for the children, young adults and adults of the city. The story writing competition, which is held in three separate languages – English, Hindi and Punjabi, was organised at the prestigious The Brower Library, Sector 8.
The concept behind organising this Short-Story competition was to promote the practice of reading and writing amongst the listeners, primarily children and young adults. Due to the current hectic life, children are becoming more focused and restricted towards their text books and computers, hence reading & writing have become an extinct habit. Keeping the same in mind, BIG 92.7 FM organised this activity with an aim to encourage people to read and write more frequently. The campaign also helped to make people aware of the importance of books in one’s lives. BIG FM’s RJ Anubhav, Satya & Pankaj also participated in the activity and took live bytes from the venue.
Commenting about this unique activity, Mr. Gagandeep Singh, Station Director – BIG 92.7 FM, Chandigarh said, “Books are a great source of knowledge and play a vital role in shaping up the character of a child. Unfortunately, children and adults now spend most of their time in schools, colleges, offices and hence reading a book becomes a rare phenomenon. Hence, to make people aware of the importance of reading and writing, BIG 92.7 FM decided to celebrate World Book Day in this unique way, setting a true example of “Suno Sunao, Life Banao”
